Pat hits the road to boost project

-

A Coatbridge cop made an arresting contribution to a Lanarkshire-based charity by swapping his handcuffs for a pair of running shoes.

Pat Hamill was joined by his colleagues Michelle Webster and Duncan Nicolson from Govan police station as the trio took part in the Glasgow 10k event.

The generous officers raised hundreds of pounds for West African children’s charity Project Gambia: People Feeding People.

The organisation supports St John’s School for the Deaf in Serrekunda, and Pat, who is also stationed at Glasgow Sheriff Court, is pictured presenting the donation to the charity’s Frank Devine.

Project Gambia’s Paul Lafferty said:“The donation from Pat and his colleagues could not come at a better time as we’re working flat out to raise as much money as we can before we head over to Africa this month.

“We deeply appreciate the efforts of Pat in supporting the children and we’d also like to thank Glasgow Sheriff Court officials, procurator fiscals, defence lawyers and clerks, and Pat’s workmates at Govan police station, who were very generous and supported his appeal.”
