Senior pupils in the spotlight

- Ian Bunting

Seniors were in the spotlight at St Andrew’s High School’s glittering awards ceremony.

A musically-marvellous taste of the Big Apple was served up to open the event as pupils of the Coatbridge school performed a pitch-perfect version of Alicia Keys’ Empire State of Mind.

School chaplain Father James Travers delivered the opening prayer before an address by head teacher Peter Holmes.

Master of ceremonies, depute head Mark Healy, got the presentation of awards off and running as overjoyed family and friends cheered on the S4-6 winners.

The vote of thanks was then given by school captains Anthony Campbell and Cara Silvestro to end the ceremony on a high note.

A school spokesperson said afterwards: “A huge thanks go to everyone who has contributed, in their own various ways, to the senior awards ceremony evening.

“The success of this evening is a collaborative effort and attributable to the endeavours of many staff, visitors, parents and pupils.”
