Marathon men

-

It was full speed ahead as pupils and staff at Rosehall High left mindless vandals trailing in their dust with a fitness-themed fundraiser in late 1983.

The Coatbridge school began a campaign to replace its minibus after it was stolen and destroyed.

Head teacher Robert Hutchison (right) and physics teacher Jonathan Rodwell – pictured in the September 9 Advertiser from that year – decided to run the Glasgow Marathon and get sponsored by pupils and their parents.

Ronnie Watson, convener of the mini-bus committee, revealed that the school would have to raise around £5000.
