You’re hired!... as hospice fundraisers
St Andrew’s Hospice launched its You’re Hired fundraiser challenge – modelled on the hit BBC TV show, The Apprentice – earlier this year.
The Airdrie-based hospice devised the programme to encourage businesses to develop an idea that engages their employees, customers, supply chain and networks to raise as much money as possible for its Capital Appeal.
The Appeal needs to raise £9 million to enable the Hospice to remodel its building, to make it fit for the future.
With categories open to small, medium and large companies, successful teams will develop their own fundraising ideas and events before the teams present their strategy, project and ultimately their fundraising total to the St Andrew’s Hospice judges in the spring.
Lanarkshire’s Tesco stores, Morgan Sindall and Starfish Construction were among the first businesses to sign up to take part in the You’re Hired challenge, which has raised £30,000 to date.
The team at Morgan Sindall has raised more than £14,000 by holding a race night, a golf day and a five-a- side football tournament, with more fundraising events planned for 2018.
Starfish Construction organised a Ben Nevis climb, with staff raising more than £1600 in sponsorship.
Tesco stores across Lanarkshire have taken part in activities such as a Bake Off competition, Cream Pie the Staff and an Ice Bucket Challenge. As a Tesco team, they have raised £3500 so far.
Maria Leonard, Capital Appeal corporate fundraiser said: “We still need the support of our local communities and businesses to help us reach our overall goal of £9M.
“If you are able to take part in You’re Hired, this challenge is a great way to get your staff involved in team building activities and having fun together.
“You can also support us by coming along to our events or by getting involved in our campaigns.
“The support of our local community is greatly appreciated.”
