Clear out for Christmas and boost the hospice

Join in fundraising car boot sale at Excelsior Stadium

- Judith Tonner

Here’s your chance to grab a bargain, have a pre- Christmas clearout and support St Andrew’s Hospice – by joining in with the first big event of the Advertiser Readers’ Room appeal for St Andrew’s Hospice.

A fundraising car boot sale will take place at Excelsior Stadium on Sunday, December 3, with all pitch fees going towards our campaign to help kit out a new room at the refurbished hospice.

Now we are asking readers to set out their stalls at the event to help raise funds for the much- loved local charity.

The car boot sale is being hosted by Excelsior Stadium Ltd – who kicked off our hospice campaign with its first donation of £5000 – and is also being backed by Airdrie Supporters’ Trust.

Stadium boss Scott Hetherington joined hospice capital appeal fundraiser Grace Peacock to launch the event and encourage readers to make a date in their diaries.

He said: “We’re delighted to be able to help the Advertiser’s Readers’ Room appeal for St Andrew’s Hospice.

“The Excelsior used to host very popular car boot sales; so we’d like as many people to come along as possible on December 3 to make this one another success.”

Advertiser editor Graham Miller added: “This is an ideal opportunity for people to have a clearout before Christmas, while showing support for the hospice – and if it proves successful, we’ll be looking to hold another in January.”

The car boot sale at Airdrie’s stadium will begin at 9am for sellers to pitch, and will be open to customers from 10am to 1pm; the East Stand will also be open for indoor selling.

Costs to participate are £10 per car and £15 for craft-type stalls, with sellers retaining all proceeds from their own stalls. Refreshments will be available to buy on the day.

Anyone interested in a pitch or stall at the fundraiser is asked to email graham. miller@ trinitymirror. com as soon as possible.

If successful, we’ll be looking to hold another car boot in January . .
