Breached court order as he’s behind bars

-

An Airdrie teenager who caused havoc in public has made a“rotten start”to his court order punishment – after being put behind bars for another offence.

Connor Paterson threw stones and other items, tipped a bin out and stated he was in possession of a knife on Mitchell Street and nearby Burnbank Street.

The out-of-control 18-year-old also tried to engage others in a fight and behaved aggressively during the incident on November 20 last year.

Paterson, from Thrashbush Quadrant, admitted his guilt and was later sentenced to a community payback order that included unpaid work.

However, when Paterson made his way back to Airdrie Sheriff Court for a review of his order last week, it was from the police cells.

Defence solicitor John McGeechan told the court Paterson was currently in custody on another matter.

Sheriff Frank Pieri then addressed Mr McGeechan and said his client had made a “rotten start”to his order.

The solicitor replied:“He has only managed to do eight or nine hours [of unpaid work] in his original order and there’s a fairly simple reason; he’s been in custody. “He accepts he breached the order.” Sheriff Pieri then deferred sentencing on Paterson’s breach until his next court date on December 4 to await the outcome of other matters.
