Sweet music Pete’s pledge

Singer launches crowdfunding page

- Ian Bunting

Pete MacLeod is getting closer than ever to his fans as he offers them the chance to connect with him and his music.

The multi- skilled Coatbridge singer- songwriter has started a crowdfunding campaign on PledgeMusic for his upcoming third album.

People can pre-order the release on digital download from the recently-launched website and gain access to exclusive signed physical formats of the album, as well as the opportunity to buy a range of exclusive merchandise and get a host of updates from Pete himself along the way.

All pledgers who make a donation will also be contributing towards Musicians Against Homelessness, an organisation which raises funds for homeless charities.

PledgeMusic “provides a way for fans to experience music and the creative process by giving artistes a platform that allows them to directly connect and engage with their fans”.

Pete decided utilising this initiative was the best way to bring his muchanticipated third album into the musical world.

He told the Advertiser: “I had been having a think about the best way to move forward and potentially release some new music.

“The idea of crowdfunding seemed like it could be a good option as I want to make a record on my own terms; one that I know people who like my music will want to hear too.

“Whilst also obviously needing the funds to get the ball rolling on the album, I’m offering some fantastic options, outside of the traditional album formats, that people can pledge on, knowing that they’ll be a direct part of making the record a reality.

“It feels like a good way of getting it made and keeping my options open for the future.

“It’s something I was going to do back in 2011 but I was lucky enough to secure a record deal at that time.

“In between then, I’ve travelled and met so many great people along the way and had many great shared experiences.

“This proves that music really is something valuable today, and it has always been a shared experience between artistes and fans.”

The Kirkwood musician added: “The music industry is full of people who like to bully other and chancers who try to suppress musicians’ talents.

“That’s why PledgeMusic and crowdfunding are great ways to go about things your own way.

“With a bit of luck, people will get behind you and, if it doesn’t work, then at least you can be proud of being who you are with your integrity intact.

“The rest is in the laps of the people who believe in you; what will be will be.”
