Kind shoppers help fund rape crisis centre

- Ian Bunting

Kind-hearted shoppers dipped into their wallets and purses to collect a four-figure sum for the Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre (LRCC).

Stallholders and customers at Glasgow’s Forge Market took part in a tombola stall which raised more than £1000 over four days.

The LRCC provides practical and emotional support to women, and girls over the age of 12 who have experienced rape or any other form of sexual violence at any time in their lives.

Anne McGuire, LRCC manager, said:“As a charity and crucial support service for women and girls living in Lanarkshire, it is vital that we continue to raise additional funds and make people more aware of the support services we offer.

“We fully appreciate the support of everyone who helps us to generate additional income, all of which goes towards supporting those who access our services.

“Thank you so much to the manager of the Forge Market, Jim Smith, for all his support, the traders who donated prizes, purchased tickets and made us feel so welcome, all of the customers who contributed and to the staff and volunteers who gave their time.”

The LRCC helpline is available on 01698 527003 and further information can be found by visiting lanrcc.org.uk.

Anyone interested in helping to raise funds for the organisation can email fundraising@lanrcc.org. uk.
