Tough talking for Kerr

-

Albion Rovers boss Brian Kerr gave his players the hairdryer treatment at half-time to secure their place in the next round of the Scottish Cup.

It was a sluggish opening 45 minutes for the visitors to K-Park. However, two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period gave Rovers the momentum to book their place in the next round.

Kerr admits he had some stern words for his players at the break:“We were pleased with the second half. At half-time we had a couple of words. The boys weren’t happy with how they had started the game and we were second best in a lot of areas of the pitch.

“We nearly undid all our hard work at the end losing a couple of goals – but we understand the important thing is getting through to the next round of the Scottish Cup.

“There have been a few teams knocked out, so it’s good to be in the next round.

“These games away from home against lower league teams are either made easy or hard.

“They can be hard if you don’t do the dirty side of the game and win the individual battles. We didn’t do that in the first half.”

He now hopes to carry the positive momentum back into League One - after five games without a win.

“It gets the monkey off the back after a couple of bad results. We understand there are still problems to fix and we can’t continue to concede goals,”added the former Scotland cap.
