STRANRAER 2 ALBION ROVERS 2

-

Albion Rovers boss Brian Kerr slammed officials as two penalties saw the Coatbridge men drop two points in Stranraer.

Rovers took an early lead when Alan Trouten slipped a shot past Cameron Belford on the rebound.

But after that it was all down to referee Craig Napier after he awarded three penalties.

Ex-Rovers forward Ryan Wallace levelled for the Blues from 12 yards after Albion were punished for pushing in the box – which saw Kerr sent to the stand for his protests.

He saw his side regain the lead through Trouten’s spot-kick after Morgyn Neill had handled the ball.

That was goal number 21 in all-competitions for red-hot Trouten – but the joy was short-lived for the Rovers faithful who had made the trip on a cold Tuesday night.

Keeper Daniel Potts was adjudged to have tripped Grant Anderson in the closing stages, and Wallace equalised three minutes from time.

Kerr was fuming after the final whistle - admitting his anger at only leaving Stair Park with a disappointing draw.

“You look at the penalty decisions and it’s so frustrating to only take a point,”said the gaffer.

“The first one is from a corner and you just don’t see them given.

“The second one, Daniel Potts goes for 50-50 ball, it bounces up and then it goes wide - then it gets pulled back for the penalty.

“You can’t even see the foul when you look at it back.

“We deserved the three points and could have had seven on the night.

“You get the ones that hit off the post and are cleared off the goalline – but these things can happen.

“The decisions being made by the officials were disgraceful.

“It’s just disappointing for the lads. They deserved so much more.

“They don’t get their just rewards because of shocking decisions.”
