Options on social care
Public feedback is also being sought on a separate set of potential budget measures relating to the health and social care integrated joint board (IJB).
A total of £5.6 million in possible social care savings is set out in the consultation; with councillors being told:“If any income generation relates to charges, then the council must set this as the IJB cannot legally do so.
The suggestions include reductions to day service delivery, which could save nearly £1.2m and see“increasing charges and/or reducing service levels across integrated day services for younger adults with disabilities and older adults”.
Also among the consultation options are reviews of intermediate care home provision, potential charges for some social work services, and of eligibility and support for equipment and adaptations, focusing on priority 1 and 2 cases.
IJB members will set its budget for 2018-2019 by the end of March, with a council report noting:“Savings options will be presented to that organisation along with the public feedback for their deliberation.”
Councillors were told:“The council and the health board determine the level of resources which it will provide to the IJB.
“It then determines its overall strategic intentions and in doing so, determines service spending and savings priorities which the council and health board will implement and deliver.”
