Energy savings advice week

- Ian Bunting

Airdrie Citizens Advice Bureau will be helping residents slash their energy bills by up to £300 as part of Big Energy Saving Week.

This week’s nationwide campaign aims to reduce household energy bills by offering support and information.

Bu r e a u staff are participating in events at Tesco on Airdrie retail park and a gathering hosted by MP Neil Gray at the town’s library on Friday from 10am.

The team will show consumers how to check “they’re on the best tariff for their needs or if there’s a cheaper deal with a different supplier”.

They can check whether energy customers qualify for the suppliers “warm home discount” of £ 140 that is credited to their electric bill, and assist energy customers’ research grants and schemes for measures, such as boiler repairs or replacements.

Aaliya Segal, manager of the Airdrie bureau, said: “Checking your energy tariff and switching to a cheaper deal is one of the quickest and easiest ways to cut your bills.

“Big Energy Saving Week is a great opportunity to get expert advice on how you can make savings in these winter months, from changing energy supplier to simple energy efficiency measures you can make in your home.

“We would encourage everyone to come to the events, use our price comparison tool or contact our service for advice so they can start making savings.”
