Vote for funding at fun day How should £25k be spent?
A community fun day taking place in Chapelhall next month will give residents a final chance to vote on how £ 25,000 coming into the village will be best spent.
Funding proposals for the Coalfields Regeneration Trust charity’s generous grant will be on display at the event in Chapelhall Primary School on Saturday, February 3, from noon until 3pm.
Over the past few weeks, villagers have contributed to a community survey and surgery meetings to put forward ideas for the funding, with the fun day their last opportunity to highlight their preferred projects.
Airdrie South councillor Paul Di Mascio, who secured the grant from the Trust, said: “The successful applicants will be announced within a week or two of the fun day, when Coalfield Regeneration will join the local steering group in coming to a decision on the successful applicants, and work with them to help progress their projects.
“The funding will then be released in late February or early March and the trust will build a five-year action plan.
“Ideas and information will be taken from the community survey and projects who miss out on the funding could also receive further assistance, in terms of advice and support, from the steering group, or help finding funding elsewhere.
“Information and literature can be found throughout the village, including a display stand within Chapelhall library which also has examples of prior five-year action plans produced in other communities.”
Entertainment at the family fun day will include a bouncy castle and face painting, and refreshments will be on offer.
