Social club Activities this week include bingo on Sunday night, with tickets on sale from 8pm and eyes down at 8.30pm. Back Brae Gospel Hall The Sunday school runs from 2.30pm to 3.15pm, with the breaking of the bread also taking place on Sunday, at 11am. The evening gospel meeting is held at 6.30pm every Sunday, except the last Sunday of the month when the service runs from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. A prayer and Bible reading is held every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9pm. All welcome. Miners’ memorial The Stanrigg Miners’ Memorial is open to all who wish to visit. July 9 this year will mark 100 years since 19 miners lost their lives in the disaster and anyone who would like to commemorate the anniversary can call 01236 830637. Transport to the memorial can also be arranged by calling the same number above, Councillors’ surgeries Councillor Sophia Coyle will hold her next surgery tonight, from 6pm to 6.30pm, while Councillor Tommy Morgan will be available for a consultation this Saturday, from noon. Both councillors meet in the village’s community hall. Baillies Lane marching band Practice takes place on Tuesdays in the social club from 7pm to 9pm. New flute and drum learners are welcome to attend; call John on 07525 064303 for further details. De Capo music group Sessions run on Mondays from 6pm to 9pm in the orange hall on Baillies Lane.
