Trust’s grant signals 20 new TV sets at hospice
Five-figure booster
St Andrew’s Hospice patients will be tuned in to the latest TV shows, thanks to a five-figure donation.
The Crerar Trust has awarded a £4900 grant to the Airdrie facility, which is to be used to buy 20 televisions.
The Trust has handed over £7m of grants to more than 400 organisations over the last 16 years, which forms part of a commitment to re-invest in the communities in which the group’s hotels and inns are based.
Lorna McCafferty, fundraising officer at the hospice, said: “On behalf of the patients and staff, I would like to thank the Crerar Trust for their very generous trust donation of £4900.
“This will allow us to purchase 20 televisions for our in-patient rooms following the major refurbishment of our hospice.”
Paddy Crerar, chairman of The Crerar Trust and chief executive of Crerar Hotels, added: “We are delighted to have made this award to St Andrew’s Hospice and look forward to hearing how this funding helps impact their work.
“Crerar Hotels is committed to giving back to the local community to help it grow and thrive, and provide opportunities that may otherwise seem out of reach.
“For every stay our customers have with us, they are supporting others who really need it.
“It is great for our folk in the hotels to see their hard work and efforts helping people in their own communities as well as those from throughout the whole of Scotland and Yorkshire.”
The Crerar Trust meets twice a year to award grants, with applications closing on April 1 and October 1; in this current funding round, £ 125,021 of grants were presented to 22 organisations.
