Lanark test for G’cairn
Gartcairn boss Davie Greig believes they will have to be at their best to pick-up a win over Lanark this weekend.
The Central Division Two leaders were held to a 3-3 draw on their last trip across Lanarkshire.
However, Lanark have endured a tough campaign so far this season and are battling near the foot of the table.
There has been a managerial merry go-round at the club this term having appointed former Carluke gaffer Colin Slater as manager - their third boss of the campaign.
Despite the unrest at the club, Greig believes it could be a tough test this Saturday.
“Yes, they’re probably not where they want to be in the league, but when a new manager comes in it can change things,”he told the Advertiser.
“They will be hoping to get a bit of a bounce from that and will probably have a point to prove against us at the top of the table.
“We will have to be at our best again to get a result.”
Cairn missed out on league action last Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch in Bellshill.
Greig expects no such problems this weekend at MTC Park, but admits it was frustrating to miss a weekend as momentum builds behind their title bid.
“We’re a bit disappointed not to get the game on after we had a good result.
“To be fair, Bellshill will probably be the same after they won their last game.
“There isn’t anything you can do but it does mean you are a game behind - that’s not ideal.”
