Think East Kilbride, think great shopping

-

Last year East Kilbride celebrated 70 years as a new town.

It was on May 6, 1947 that East Kilbride was designated Scotland’s first ever new town and it hasn’t looked back since that historical day.

And over 75,000 people are proud to call it their town.

Think East Kilbride and you think shopping.

At the heart of the town is one of the biggest shopping centres in the UK.

With miles and miles of shops, the EK Centre is a must for those who love to shop, shop, shop.

Last year 13 million flocked to EK Centre to bag a bargain and explore the mix of independent and bespoke shops and the big multi-national chains too.

As East Kilbride grew as a new town, so did the shopping and the town centre.

Retail giants began to sit up and take notice of the town and that brought big name businesses to East Kilbride.

The EK Centre became an important part of the community’s lives, from people living and working in the town to visitors who were keen to hit those miles and miles of mall shops.

The centre employs 3000 people and boasts 150 shops and eight restaurants including the multiaward winning Zucca – a must for all lovers of delicious Italian cuisine. So if you want to hit those shops and enjoy a great day out or savour a tasty meal after grabbing a bargain, then East Kilbride is the place to head.
