What difficulti­es does the club struggle to overcome?

The main struggle is accessing funding to assist with the purchase of new kit or equipment or sending competitor­s to competitio­ns both nationally and internatio­nally. The clubs are fortunate to have a fantastic sponsor in Hallcraig Dental Care.

How does the club benefit the community?

The clubs offer quality martial arts instructio­n at low cost. This provide valuable skills, discipline and confidence to the students. Several students who were shy and withdrawn are now confident young people who have gained a lot from the clubs. They also put on activities like ten-pin bowling and demo nights to build on the skills learned and ensure everyone in the club feels welcome.

What youth options do the club have?

The clubs are open to all students from four years and above. There are students for early years to those in their fifties. The club is a friendly safe environmen­t for all students to learn.

How much work goes into running the club?

There is a lot of work required in running the clubs, from teaching, grading, attending seminars and competitio­ns and the associated paperwork
