Memorial offers time to reflect
NHS Lanarkshire’s annual memorial service for those who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death will take place this Saturday.
The gathering, led by the spiritual care, midwifery and neonatal team, will begin at 1pm in the Sanctuary on level one at University Hospital Wishaw.
Elaine Hamilton, bereavement specialist midwife, said:“The memorial service offers a dedicated time of reflection during which babies lost through miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death are remembered. It also allows the opportunity for parents, families, friends and care providers to come together at this time.
“Anyone affected by the loss of a baby, whether in recent times or years gone by, is welcome to attend.”
Continuing support is available all year round from the miscarriage support group meeting.
Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month from 7pm to 9pm, in the quiet room of the spiritual care department at University Hospital Wishaw.
In addition, the Lanarkshire branch of SANDS, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Support charity, meet on the second Monday of the month between 7.30pm and 9.30pm in the Ronald Miller Education and Training Centre at the hospital.
