Kop a look at this top

-

Graeme Souness took a trip down memory lane during his visit to the Excelsior last week.

The Liverpool legend got up close and personal with a very special football shirt – the one he wore when lifting the first of three European Cups with the Anfield giants.

Forty years ago in May, Graeme and his Liverpool teammates beat Belgium side Club Brugge at Wembley to lift Europe’s premier trophy for the second consecutive year.

The shirt, which has been signed by all the Liverpool team, takes pride of place among a range of iconic tops that adorn the walls of the Excelsior .

Stadium owner Paul Hetherington said:“The Liverpool top belongs to my friend Josey Rowan.

“Josey’s late father was Joey Rowan, the former Airdrieonians director, and Josey has very kindly given the club the use of a number of wonderful framed shirts from his collection.

“It was amazing to see Graeme pose next to his shirt.”

Graeme Souness added:“That was an incredible night in my career, so to see the top again was an unexpected surprise.”
