Silver lining for St Mary’s celebration

It was a very happy birthday to St Mary’s Primary in 2002 as the Whifflet school marked its 25th anniversary.

Past and present pupils and staff, along with members of the community, were thrilled to help honour the occasion during a silver jubilee party.

Excited youngsters from the school – pictured in the October 23 paper of that year – were able to delve into St Mary’s history and created picture boards with photographic memories.

Parents went along to take a trip down memory lane and reflect on the school’s importance to the area.

A St Mary’s Primary spokesperson told the Advertiser: “We wanted to do something special to recognise the milestone.

“It was lovely seeing past pupils back with us.”
