Carsons hold top with Post point Late rescue keeps team in front

- Mark Pirie

Carsons held on to top spot in the Airdrie and District Darts League as they rescued a point against The Post.

The Calderbank outfit were in need of a win to mount a serious title charge, however it was the visitors who nailed the last pairs game to get a share of the spoils.

The Post had plenty of chances and could have taken both points if they had been a little bit more clinical, but in the end both teams had to settle with the draw.

On top form for The Post were Dougie Pairman with 18-dart and 21dart wins - before Tommy Rodman followed it up with a 20-dart win.

Paul Cushen also hit a 106 checkout and Kenny Campbell had a 180.

Bottom-of-the-table Wilson Arms gave themselves an outside chance of avoiding the wooden spoon when they held on for a point against their guests, The West End.

Wilson star John Davidson had a 180 for the visitors in a match they should have won.

The Workmen’s A will be satisfied with their draw away to The Swan.

The big hitters in Chapelhall came from the home side, but the Workies lads produced some great finishes.

Jim Parker hit a 19-dart win for The Swan with a 180 while team mates Barry Bamber had a 19-dart win and Alex Gordon won in 21-darts.

In Coatbridge, it was derby night as The Barnyard visited The Eagle but the rivals each took a point from the game.

Craig McKinnon had a 20-dart win for The Eagle while Tommy Slavin took a dart more.

Gerard McKiernan complemented his team mates with a 180.

The Barnyard also had their moments with Ricky Grant having a 16-dart win and George Lindsay on the ball with an 18-dart win.

The Workmen’s B kept up their challenge at the top of the table by avoiding the potential banana skin that The Clansman usually provide.

The B Boys took both points back from Caldercruix with the help of Cammy Reynolds’ 180 for a 19-darter which was matched by Gerry Brown.

The Boar’s Head narrowly lost out at home to the Bank Social Club.

Tom Walker had a 19-dart leg while Jim Walker hit a 134 checkout.

It wasn’t enough to take something from the game though, with Rab McLellan shooting a 17-darter for the Bankies.
