On paper it’s best recycling year yet at Highlander

-

Lanarkshire recycling company Highlander Paper Recycling recently celebrated its 15th year by having the most successful 12-month trading period since the firm’s inception in 2002.

The company now owns and operates a modern recycling factory in the heart of East Kilbride, 10 collection vehicles, 40 fulltime staff and, crucially, a real brand presence in the Scottish paper recycling market, which has propelled Highlander to being Scotland’s largest independent paper recycling company with a turnover of nearly £8m, plus1000 tons of waste paper handled every week and an impressive customer base which includes companies such as Coca Cola, G4S, Slater Menswear, Quiz Clothing and many more.

Based at the old Hannay Waste Paper depot on the Queensway, the company bought these iconic premises in 2014 with the view of becoming Scotland’s premier paper recycling company within five years – an objective which was reached in 2017.

Given the determined nature of the company directors – Brian Bingham and Stephen Duffy – and Highlander’s dedicated Advertising Feature workforce, 2018 has started superbly well with some notable contract successes.

So far they have signed up three of Scotland’s largest printers, a large independent box maker and re-signed their flagship contract with Arjo Wiggins on another long-term agreement. And, when coupled with 2017 contract successes such as M&Co, Highlander have established themselves as a strong recycling force.

Their service portfolio includes provision of skips for waste paper, lorry mounted forklift collection vehicles, an award-winning and fully accredited Security Shredding facility and branded paper goods destruction centre, meaning they have a solution for just about any paper recycling requirement.

Highlander are finalists in the 2018 Lanarkshire Business awards’ Lanarkshire’s Best Business category which will be decided in May.
