Easter camp coaches thinking inside the box
The Box Soccer classes will have an element of Monklands derby spice with former Albion Rovers coach Tony McMinn leading the youngsters with his Airdrieonians counterparts.
McMinn, now at East Fife working under ex-Cliftonhill gaffer Darren Young, organises Box Soccer meet-ups across Lanarkshire.
The specialised sessions, backed by the Supporters Trust, focus on the technical side of the game and will also be fronted by former Diamond Stephen Docherty and current under-17 talent Lewis Gracie – as well as Prunty.
McMinn, who also assisted in community football projects during his time in Coatbridge, was delighted to help on the opposing side of Monklands.
“I’m happy to get involved in the community side of the club and to help them grow the club in the town,”he told the Advertiser.
“Box deliver our‘Think Inside the Box’ programme to several schools throughout Airdrie and North Lanarkshire so I’m sure it will be a partnership that can greatly benefit the area and increase opportunities for children to get involved in quality and fun football coaching.
“The mix of Box Soccer coaches, young Lewis Gracie, Bryan and Stephen will make sure it’s an enjoyable two weeks for the kids.”
The first block of classes will kick-off from April 2 to April 6, and in the second week of the Easter school holidays from April 9 to April 13. The classes run from 9.30am to 3pm every day and cost £15 per day or £60 for a week.
