Bureau issue appeal for more volunteers
Training available
Airdrie citizens’ advice bureau is appealing for new volunteers to help the organisation “deliver frontline services to local residents”.
Staff are teaming up with their Coatbridge counterparts to host an advisor training programme, which was launched yesterday.
A spokesperson for the Airdrie bureau told the Advertiser: “With the full service delivery of the new Universal Credit Benefit beginning this month in our area, we anticipate an even higher demand for our advice services.
“Therefore, we are appealing for more volunteers to join our team and help us provide a free, confidential, independent and impartial advice service in our community.
“The more trained volunteers we have, the more people we can help throughout Monklands.”
Pe o p l e i n t e re s t e d in volunteering with the bureau must be over 18-years-old – but experience in the field isn’t a necessity.
The spokesperson added: “Training to be an adviser will suit those who enjoy working with people and are looking for a new challenge.
“It may particularly suit those who have recently retired, who work part- time or are thinking of returning to the job market in future.
“No experience is necessary but recruits must be prepared to commit seven hours per week for a minimum of six months after completion of the training programme.”
To register an interest in volunteering with the bureau, or to get your hands on a recruitment pack, contact the team on 01236 754109 or pop into the organisation’s base at 14 Anderson Street.
