Golden moment for winning college team
Awards night success
New College Lanarkshire’s marketing and communications team shone as they struck gold at a prestigious prizegiving event.
The college was recognised for exemplary work in the communications and PR and customer experience categories at the College Development Network (CDN) Marketing Awards, held in Glasgow’s Drygate Brewery.
The top team scooped a gold award for a campaign around the college’s success at WorldSkills competitions, particularly focused on Medallion of Excellence award winner Betsy Crosbie, now the face of the college’s STEM promotion.
Having previously secured the gold award in the category over the last two years, the college was also given a bronze honour for a communications campaign developed around Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2017, where a number of student case studies were given national coverage.
The second gold award of the evening was also presented to the college for providing exceptional customer experience with its student funding campaign – “Funding Pigs to the Rescue” – after the entire student funding process was revamped with a new communications strategy.
Karyn Sibbald, college head of marketing and communications, said: “Marketing and communications is still sometimes not recognised as a vital piece of the puzzle in further education, but the talent in the room at the awards would impress anyone.
“The team at New College Lanarkshire work so hard on a daily basis and they are flying high.
“They work towards a common goal, whilst always having fun – and the results show.”
The CDN Marketing Awards are designed to recognise the “excellent practice taking place in Scotland’s 25 further education colleges”.
