Pupils celebrate 60th anniversary
Nostalgia was in the air as an Airdrie school’s 60th anniversary celebrations got into full swing.
To help mark St Edward’s Primary’s diamond anniversary, enthralled pupils took a step back in time to research the history of their school and its surrounding community.
As well as commemorating its sixth full decade, 2018 is also the final year the school will be situated at its original South Biggar Road home before children and staff move into a new shared campus with Tollbrae Primary next April.
In an attempt to examine the very best of each decade since St Edward’s opened its doors, youngsters focused on the trends, technology, fashion, movies and music that captured the imagination of generations.
The talented kids then designed their own models, art work and display boards based on their finding and had a blast looking out old photographs from the school’s past.
The anniversary programme will continue later this month with a“Wee Blast from the Past”show.
