Crighton targets success after Brechin battle
New Airdrieonians signing Sean Crighton has vowed to come back stronger after his Brechin nightmare.
The 28- year- old defender sealed his Diamonds return last week after a horror spell in the Championship with the Glebe Park side.
Having been part of the recordbreaking winless run – which saw City become the first Scottish side to finish a league season without a victory in 126 years – Crighton is now hoping for an upturn in fortunes at New Broomfield.
“It was a tough year; mentally a very tough year,” he told the Advertiser.
“I tell you what, I’ve learned a lot from it. I think being here now it’s given me that drive to have a fresh start and really kick on.
“That year in my eyes is gone. So I just need to bounce back and perform here.”
The centre- back says he jumped at the chance to return to Airdrie and hopes to lift the League One title again – having topped the pile with Livingston.
“I always said if anyone ever asked me if I would come back to Airdrie, I would say absolutely,” said Crighton.
“I loved my time here. Everyone around the place was great with me, and the fans were great.”
He continued: “It’s early doors but we have to try and challenge at the top.
“I think they are trying to build a squad here. I’ve obviously been involved in a league winning squad at Livingston and there is nothing better.
“They guys are trying to bring in the right people to do it and I don’t see why not.”
