Airdrie playpark survey
Families consulted
Airdrie residents are being asked for their views on the area’s playpark facilities.
Local MP Neil Gray is asking families for their opinions on potential improvements – including CCTV coverage, separate provision for older and younger children, and inclusion of ball games areas.
He is conducting the survey across his Airdrie & Shotts constituency ahead of the summer holidays, and will use the details gathered “to work with the council and other organisations to ensure services better match expectations”.
Mr Gray said: “To tackle a growing child obesity issue, we need to encourage kids to get outside and play in a safe and appropriate environment.
“I know some of the local playgrounds are great, but I feel a good number are in desperate need of an upgrade or better security.
“The best folk to tell officials what children really need are their parents and guardians, and quite often the kids themselves – this survey is my way of collating information that I can take to North Lanarkshire Council to try to get better facilities for young people in the area and therefore have healthier, happier children.”
He added: “I ask that people take two minutes out of their day to fill in the survey and together we can try to make a difference.”
The survey, which can be completed anonymously, is at https:// surveyhero. com/c/c95e9ef5.
A street survey is also being undertaken to gather opinions on the subject, including satisfaction with play equipment and playpark locations.
