Dream ending after Donna’s Disney struggle

A Coatbridge mum offour who once couldn’t get her seatbelt on during rides at Disneyland has enjoyed a fairytale ending to her slimming efforts.

Donna McAllister is now a golden member of Slimming World and has been crowned Greatest Loser by her fellow dieters.

Her inspirational success – which has seen her shed more than four stones in six months – has had a hugely positive impact on not just her life but her family’s too as her son used to get into fights at school when “people called his mum fat”.

Nurse Donna, 34, revealed: “We went on holiday to Disneyland last year and I struggled to get the seatbelts over my body during a few of the rides.

“I saw photos of myself which were taken during the trip and knew that I needed to lose weight. My son was also getting involved in fights at his school when people called his mum fat.

“As well as my own health, I recognised how important it was for me to be around to help my children and see them grow up.

“I had tried various crazy diets before joining Slimming World last November, when I realised I was able to eat proper, amazing food and still lose weight.”

Donna, who has dropped four dress sizes, added: “I love my consultant Rachel [ Clements] and the social team at the group.

“I see Slimming World as a lifestyle choice and not a diet; joining my local group is one of the best decisions I have ever made.”

Donna’s consultant Rachel Clements runs Slimming World groups at St Andrew’s High School in Coatbridge on Thursdays at 5.30pm and 7.30pm and Saturdays at 9.30am.

Donna attends the 7.30pm group and was awarded the Greatest Loser prize by her fellow members.

Proud Rachel said: “Donna is now a ‘golden body magic member’ and is working towards platinum status.

“She was my first ever two, two-and-a-half, three, three- and- a- half and four stones award achiever and is a wonderful inspiration.

“Donna is a prime example of what can be achieved when you follow your dreams through Slimming World.

“Nothing gets in her way and she is a credit to herself and her lovely family.”
