A young dancer is looking to leave her competitors in a spin after reaching the finals of the Little Miss Natural Beauty Scotland contest.

Skye Ross, 4, will swap the dancefloor for the catwalk when she takes part in the prestigious pageant in three weeks time.

The Airdrie girl sailed through to the finals by wowing judges with her submitted mini-video and portfolio of pictures.

Skye, who attends the Pamela Logan School of Dance in Coatbridge, is embracing her date with destiny as she aims for crowning glory in what will be her first ever pageant.

Her mum Emma told the Advertiser: “Skye is with the My Model UK agency and they put her forward for the competition after getting in touch to see if we would be interested.

“We had to send off a minivideo and a selection of photos before waiting to find out if Skye had been selected.

“We were over the moon when they told us she had reached the finals; it’s really exciting.

“Skye is a drama queen so this kind of thing is right up her street; she’s really looking forward to taking part in the pageant.”

Emma added: “Skye has been with Pamela for a while and she adores dancing.

“She has done really well there and helped the school impress during a series of competitions.

“Skye is a big fan of theatre as well and we’re sure she has a bright future ahead of her.”

Clarkston Nursery youngster Skye is aiming to raise “as much money as possible” for the pageant’s official charity – Abbie’s Army, who fund research into children’s brain tumours.

Emma said: “She has already taken part in a fundraising dance at Clarkston Primary School and is holding a big superheroes and princesses lunch next month.

“Skye is keen to raise as much money as possible and we’re hoping the local community can lend a hand by supporting her fundraisers.

“She already has the brilliant backing of sponsors Ali Kebab House in Airdrie and Stefi Ogunyemi at Sabina Beauty Secrets.”

Proud Emma is optimistic about her daughter’s chances in the Little Miss Natural Beauty Scotland finals – and revealed Skye is already getting into the pageant mood.

She said:“She is already practising her walk for the catwalk and striking a few poses.

“No matter how Skye gets on, it will be a wonderful experience for her and we’ll be there to cheer her on.”

The Little Miss Natural Beauty Scotland finals take place in Glasgow on June 24.
