MASH splash the cash
Members of Airdrie mental health group MASH handed over a charity cheque after staging a successful fundraising evening.
The group, which stands for Mingling and Sharing Hope, staged an evening of entertainment at Moy Hall and split the £1100 proceeds between the group funds and chosen charity Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).
Among the attractions were a comedian, DJ, disco and karaoke, plus stalls, a tombola and raffles, with several local companies donating prizes for the event.
Their funds were further boosted as generous representatives of Moy Hall allowed free use of the venue for the fundraiser.
Half of the money raised will go to the Airdrie group, to help towards their weekly arts and crafts sessions at the town’s library on Wellwynd; and for their forthcoming trips to Edinburgh Dungeons, Blair Drummond safari park and Glasgow science centre.
The remaining £550 was presented to SAMH community fundraiser Chloe Watson, pictured visiting one of the weekly Thursday meetings of the local group – which was first formed 18 months ago.
Now members are also planning to take on the SAMH Stomp sponsored stair-climbing challenge at Murrayfield in October.
MASH group member Ann McGonnell said:“This was our second fundraising night and it was really good; we raised even more than last time and had great support with the venue and raffle prizes.”
