The Edge of Reason

-

Irene Graham

Life has beat me up and left me scraping the bottom of a barrel I took all my fears, walked down streets washed with tears, to where the pavement got narrower and narrower Moved so close to the edge, that tipping point, and almost lost my balance But an unseen hand just reached right out, pulling me back from the brink, firmly placing my feet to where I’m now standing. With this a bright spark was put in my head, one of those of some understanding, That my life as it was, no matter how bad, was not really mine for the taking And much more than this, a new hope exists, that my life is a progress that’s still in the making. So no longer do I question the reason as to why, those near misses I’ve had have all passed me by or I’ve been dealt with the cards I am now holding. Instead I say thanks for the blessings I have as I gladly watch them unfolding.
