Snappers scoop top awards in a flash
Students’success
Two snap-happy Airdrie photographers’ exceptional work wowed their educational colleagues – and was put on display at a top exhibition.
Jules Greggain was crowned New College Lanarkshire’s NQ photography student of the year, with Jim McFarlane scooping the print of the year prize.
Both students’ well-developed work caught the eye at the college’s creative industries department’s end- of- year showcase at its Motherwell campus.
The display featured iconic images by Jules, Jim and more than 100 other students who have completed courses in the computing and creative industries and engineering and automotive subjects this year.
The public spaces of the campus were transformed into creative hubs – featuring photography, project plans, videos and live models.
Jules and Jim’s prints were also exhibited, with the opportunity for members of the public to buy them.
Matthew Smith, college head of faculty for computing and creative industries, said: “Each year we are blown away by the exceptional talents and creativity shown by our students and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication our staff put in to ensure that all of our students leave college truly skill-set for life.
“I would like to congratulate all students who showcased their work at the event, in particular those exceptional students who were given special recognition for their work throughout their course.
“I hope that they are inspired by the positive feedback from the event to go on and achieve great things.
“Thanks also go to those who helped plan and execute the event; it’s a fantastic highlight in the academic year.”
