Setting a fast pace to raise Foundation funds

Sponsored walk event

- Ian Bunting

More than 40 people – along with a trio of fourlegged friends – put their best feet forward to take part in the Moira Anderson Foundation’s sponsored walk fundraiser.

The annual event played out in baking-hot temperatures in what organisers hailed as “a perfect day for a walk”.

Generous members of the Monklands community chipped in to help make the day as memorable as possible.

And some participants brought their beloved prized pooches along as three dogs took the lead on the trail through Monklands.

All proceeds from the walk will go towards the Airdrie- based Foundation’s work supporting children and adults affected by sexual abuse.

Organisers were quick to praise the kindness on show from everyone involved, with a spokesperson for the charity telling the Advertiser: “The event was supported by El Amethyst Photography, who came along and took some great photos, Co-op Chapelhall, who supplied bottled water and crisps, Bellsdyke Snax and its delicious burgers and buns and local businesses Lee’s and Tunnock’s with their yummy sweet treats.

“The walk all came together through the efforts of the fabulous volunteers and helpers who cleaned the barbecue, cooked the burgers and helped with the set up and tidy up of the outside space.

“The Foundation would like to thank all of the supporters, donators, walkers and helpers who made this event such a fun day.”

The Foundation is holding its next open session on September 12, at its Mavisbank Street base from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

This will give visitors the chance to learn more about the charity’s services, meet staff and network with other agencies; call 01236 602890 for further details.
