More walk plans

Monklands Ramblers’next walk will take place this Saturday.

The group will tackle the Trahenna Hills and Broughton Heights in the Scottish Borders.

David Dunn will lead the group on the walk, which totals eight miles.

The difficulty of the walk is classed as B+.

The pick-up point will be at 8.30am at the entrance to the Time Capsule in Coatbridge.

A second walk will also take place that day from Lyne station, near Peebles, heading up the Broughton Hills.

Alan Russell will lead the team on this one, with the difficulty of the walk graded slightly lower at B.

The distance of the walk is yet to be confirmed but to declare an interest contact David.

Last week the group took part in a midweek walk from Salsburgh to Caldercrui­x.

The seven-mile, grade C ramble was led by David.

The next free midweek walk on Wednesday, July 11, is a five mile circular route around Drumpellie­r Country Park.

The meeting place is the park’s visitor centre at noon. Contact David Dunn to book a place.

The club are continuing their Fit for a Fiver scheme to entice new members.

Walks with the club normally cost £12 or £15 to cover bus costs but new walkers can pay £5 for a taster.
