Farewell to special trio at Dunrobin

New era as head teacher and acting deputy bow out

- Jean Ward

A trio of much- loved members of staff bid farewell to Dunrobin Primary last week.

Eileen Watters retired as head teacher after spending six successful years at the Airdrie school following a career spanning more than 30 years.

And while Eileen admitted to being “sad”, she was looking forward to devoting more time to her grandchildren, travelling the world and pursuing her many hobbies.

She told the Advertiser: “I have greatly enjoyed being a part of the team at Dunrobin Primary.

“It is with a genuine mixture of sadness and excitement that I find myself ready to move on to the next stage of my life.

“I am most grateful to have made many friends, learned alongside wonderful children and been well supported by many parents and the wider communities in which I have worked.”

Joyce Martin, who had been a hard- working member of the school office team for 18 years, also said goodbye to her colleagues and all the kids at the school.

While popular principal teacher and acting deputy head Sarah Reilly, who has taught at Dunrobin for 13 years, is taking up a promotion in Motherwell.

And in their honour, pupils and staff gathered together at a special assembly last week to wave them off and wish them well.

A spokesperson for the school said: “On behalf of the pupils, parents and staff, we wish Mrs Watters and Mrs Martin a happy and healthy retirement, and Mrs Reilly good luck in her new post.”
