Diamonds have six appeal
Clachnacuddin ..... 0 Airdrieonians........ 6 Airdrie forwards Dale Carrick and Daryl Duffy both netted braces during the Diamonds’6-0 trouncing of Highland league side Clachnacuddin.
Earlier in the week, Airdrie drew 1-1 in friendlies with Stirling Albion and Forres Mechanics.
But they stepped it up a gear on Saturday as they scored six without reply.
The visitors took the lead midway through the first half as Dale Carrick blasted home a spot kick which was given when Cammy Russell was fouled in the box.
Kieran Miller then made it 2-0 only two minutes after coming off the bench.
The former East Fife player leapt high to send a fine header into the back of the net in the 34th minute.
Airdrie came out all guns blazing in the second half and made it 3-0 five minutes after the restart.
Dale Carrick scored his second of the game before Russell made it 4-0 with a strike to remember.
The hard-working hitman got in on the act just after the hour mark as he sent a guided missile of a shot into the top corner from 25 yards out.
Despite being on a hat-trick, Carrick was replaced by veteran striker Duffy who was keen to keep his impressive pre-season goal run going.
He succeeded in doing just that, by taking his tally to five in three games after notching two in a three minute spell.
Attention now turns to this weekend’s final pre-season fixture against Falkirk before the Betfred Cup begins.
