School ‘family’ expresses grief

-

Scores of heartbroken Airdrie mourners paid their respects to little Alesha during an emotional vigil at Chapelside Primary School last Wednesday.

Parents, pupils and teachers were among the 100 in attendence who observed a minute’s silence after laying flowers in the playground.

Farewell notes were placed beside the floral tributes, with one describing Alesha, who had just completed her second year at the school, as a“fallen angel, taken too soon”.

Devastated locals struggled to hold back tears as Chapelside Primary head teacher Wendy Davie paid tribute to the poular six-year-old.

Last week Mrs Davie told of how popular and friendly Alesha was at the school.

She said:“Alesha welcomed everyone first thing in the morning at breakfast club. She was a very considerate child who loved being part of a group and she was popular with all the other children and was a smiley and happy young girl.

“She loved being at school and enjoyed all aspects of literacy, in particular writing. She was such a perfectionist in her handwriting and was very proud of her work.

“She was part of the family of Chapelside Primary. She will be greatly missed by everyone at the school. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and Chapelside Primary community at this very sad time.”
