Balance is key for mum-of-four
A caring Coatbridge mum-of-four has found the secret to balancing a busy home life with maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Vegetarian Susan Kay is “loving her new body” after dropping more than four stones in 10 months.
The hard-working 39-yearold is now a healthy 9st 1lb after turning to Slimming World when she grew frustrated with her inability to manage her eating habits.
Susan said: “Before I joined Slimming World, I weighed nearly 14 stones and I was shocked when I saw that figure on the scales.
“I have always been active but the weight was taking its time coming off. Being a vegetarian also made it harder to shift the weight.
“I would eat in the morning and then later at night, snacking on biscuits and crisps.
“Being a mum-of-four, I found it difficult to make balanced healthy meals on a daily basis due to my children liking different foods and my six-year-old son Brandon being autistic.
“Brandon relies on me and the majority of my time is spent looking after his needs. That is why I would eat later.”
Susan joined Slimming World last August and reflected: “In the early days, I would feel the pressure on my knees and my back.
“Before Slimming World I was eating frozen meals and now, after checking the syns value of some of them, I was shocked.
“I now love to make all my food from scratch and my husband enjoys the meals too. When I set my mind to something, I strive to get there and I love a challenge.
“I exercise three to four times a week and I adore seeing the numbers fall on the scales every week.
“I never used to like going out to the shops to buy new clothes, but now I love trying stuff on and seeing my new body shape.”
Consultant Denise Raybould added: “Susan is an amazing member and always willing to help others in group, especially new members.
“I always go to her for her expert advice in image therapy to help other vegetarians that have joined the group. I’m so pleased Susan walked through my doors.”
