Gaffer praises Watson

-

John Brogan admits new signing Jamie Watson has caught his eye as Albion Rovers approach the new season.

The 23-year-old, who signed from Kilsyth Rangers last month, is one of many players recruited from the junior leagues by new boss Brogan.

The former Clyde forward last week told the Advertiser he is aiming to rekindle his senior career after a spell out of it, and will be pleased to hear his boss enthuse:“Jamie has done really well so far and will be pushing for a starting place come the start of the season.

“He’s got a great attitude and is keen to do well.

“He’s exactly the type of boy we need in this team.

“Someone who is hungry and willing to play for the jersey.

“We don’t have the money to buy seasoned pros so Jamie is an example of what we’ve been looking for and he’s done really well.”

Watson said:“I’m hoping to get my opportunity in the games coming up and show that I can be a contender for a place in this team.

“As a striker, finishing is the main priority but you get different types of strikers.

“Some hold it up, some prefer to drop deep and link the play, whereas I prefer to use my pace and movement to get in behind.

“Playing junior really toughened me up and I can put that to good use.”
