My Albion boys are keepers
Albion Rovers gaffer John Brogan has spoken of his delight at having three “quality” goalkeepers in his squad ahead of the new season.
Rovers’ Daniel Potts last week signed a one- yeardeal at Cliftonhill while Christopher Wylie has joined from Alloa.
The pair will compete with Gareth Halford for the No1 jersey and Brogan admits none of them can yet claim it belongs to them.
He said: “It’s up to the three of them to impress me buts at the moment there’s no No1.
“I’m delighted to have three goalies of their quality in the squad.
“Daniel’ sa good goalkeeper and we’re pleased to have him in.
“He’s worked hard and with his university commitments, he’s decided this is the best place for him just now.
“He and Gareth both played a half each in a bounce game at the weekend and I thought they were both excellent.
“Young Christopher Wylie is a good addition too and he’ll get the opportunity to show me what he can do as well.
“He’s a great prospect with decent experience under his
belt already.”As well as his three goalkeepers, Brogan has also hailed the arrival of new reserve coach Graham Livingstone.
The former Alloa head of youth used to work under Jim McLean at Dundee United and has been described as a “major coup”by the Rovers boss.
He continued:“Graham was responsible for the youth teams when McLean was the manager at a successful Dundee United.
“He also worked with Paul Hartley when Alloa were going strongly under him a few years back.
“This is amazing for the recruitment side of things and Graham turned down the opportunity to go back to Dundee United in favour of this.
“It’s a huge coup for the club and I’m delighted to have him on board.”
Rovers beat a Motherwell select 2-0 at the weekend and Brogan is now confidently looking forward to next week’s Betfred Cup tie against Stenhousemuir.
He said:“We equipped ourselves very well against Stenhousemuir and I was impressed by them.s
“Motherwell put a decent team out and we did well to overcome them.
“Stenny will provide a good, competitive game and the boys will get an opportunity to express themselves.
“It’s another chance for them to show me what they can do.”
