Tributes are paid to tragic Airdrie schoolgirl Alesha

Emotional Advertiser readers have inundated our Facebook page to pay tribute to tragic Airdrie schoolgirl Alesha MacPhail.

The six-year-old Chapelside Primary youngster was found dead in a woodland area near her grandmothe­r’s house in Rothesay earlier this month, with a 16-year-old male later charged with her murder.

Gayle Burns Fleming spoke for many when she said:“Gone way to soon; hope she is flying high in the clouds with the angels who called her home, too precious for this world.

“Condolence­s to the family and friends of this beautiful girl.”

Debbie Lang commented:“My thoughts are with all of the family and friends at what must be such a heartbreak­ing time. “Fly high beautiful girl.” Catherine McHutchies­on posted: “Thoughts and prayers for the family. RIP little angel.”

Avril Codona attended the poignant vigil held in Alesha’s memory at Chapelside Primary School and added: “The first primary school I went to; lots of happy memories there.

“It was very sad to see this happening, though. It’s tragic a wee girl was taken so young.”

Margaret Shiell also took a moment to think of Alesha’s friends at the Airdrie school: “Heartfelt thoughts for the families related to this wee girl who was taken so tragically; and not forgetting her school friends and staff of Chapelside Primary who will have to come to terms with this awful incident.”

Ann McGuinness added:“Such a shame. I can’t imagine what her family are going through... heartbroke­n.”

Irene Farooqui got in touch to say: “So, so sad. My thoughts and best wishes are with the family over the awful loss of their little princess.”

Xkelly Breenx paid her tribute:“So sad; poor wee girl took too soon.
