Tournament will aid headstone fund

-

Airdrieo ni ans’ Penny Cars Stadium will host a further football-themed fundraiser in aid of Alesha’s family this Saturday.

Members of the public are invited along to the seven-team tournament from noon to 4pm, with raffle prizes also up for grabs.

The event is being organised by Tracy Austin, a friend of George Horn, the partner of Alesha’s mum Genie Lochrane, to help fund a headstone for Alesha.

Tracy, 35, said:“I was only planning a charity match but got such a great response it has turned into a tournament.

“We have seven teams taking part, which includes two teams of friends and family – and another five who regularly get together for charity games that my friend Michael Sweeney has got coming along.

“There will be a cup presented to the winning team and raffle prizes will be up for grabs after the tournament.”

The prizes include a tour for six of Rangers’Ibrox Stadium, tickets to Motherwell and Hamilton football matches, a pass for Inveraray Jail and a two-course carvery lunch at Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew.

Tracy added:“The raffle prizes will be presented in the stadium bar after the tournament.

“There are no advance ticket sales. People are asked to just come along on the day and pay a donation at the gate for entry.

“We don’t have a specific target total in mind but the more we can raise for the family the better.

“The money is possibly going to be used for a headstone in memory of Alesha and will make a big difference to her loved ones.”
