Piper Kenny sees reel difference in lifestyle

- Ian Bunting

A bagpipe player is hitting the right notes as his fourand-a-half stones weight loss is music to his ears.

Truck driver Kenny Stevenson, of Plains, has reached his target weight.

Kenny, 54, became concerned about his size when he hit the 17 stones mark and decided to join the Slimming World group in his home village.

He says his life has since been “transformed” and now when he heads out on the road for his job he enjoys a much healthier diet.

Kenny told the Advertiser: “Being at work is now a lot easier as I prepare my lunches and snacks in advance to keep food optimising every day. I know exactly what I am eating.

“I have never felt this good in a long time and I’ve noticed a big difference when walking with my pipe band. I am much healthier.”

Kenny added: “The support I have had from my Slimming World group has helped immensely and I feel like I am now able to help others in the same fashion.

“I eat lots of fruit for snacking and love the Slimming World range of frozen foods. They have been a massive help through my weight-loss journey.

“To hit my target weight is wonderful but I am determined to keep on going.”

Pauline Morris, consultant at the Plains group, said: “Kenny is a great inspiration to the other members and will give great food ideas to anyone who is struggling.

“He still attends weekly and admits he will continue to do so as long as he is able to help others get to where he is now, which is fantastic.”

The Plains group runs in the village’s community centre on Wednesdays at 7.30pm and new members are welcome.
