Trek from Drump to Hoggy

-

Monklands Ramblers are gearing up for their next midweek walk after completing two long treks on Sunday.

On Wednesday, August 15, the group will walk from Drumpellier to Hogganfield Loch and back.

It is a total distance of 11 miles and will be led by David Dunn.

The walk, which is rated at grade C, will take place in the afternoon and the meeting point is Drumpellier Park visitor centre at 12pm.

There will also be time for a tea or coffee at the Fort centre before walking back to Drumpellier.

There is also the option of bringing a packed lunch for the walk, which is on good paths for most of the way rather than uneven terrain.

At the weekend, two groups completed long walks at tougher grades.

The first walk saw Ken Paton lead his group for a total of nine miles at a B+ level around the Kirk Yetholm circular.

The second group, led by Pat Rawlinson, led her group for a longer 11 miles at a grade B level from Morebattle to Hairstaines.

Later on this month, the ramblers will take in two more walks, which are set to be led by John McNulty and Allan Ward.

This time, the distances will be 10 miles and eight miles and they will take place on Sunday, August 19.

The walks will be held around the north-west side of Loch Lomond.
