Contractor praises the work of hospice

- Judith Tonner

A supplier involved in the £9 million renovation of St Andrew’s Hospice described being part of the project as “truly an honour”.

Yorkshire-based Innova Care Concepts provided the refurbished 30-bed facility’s hoists, fitted cabinets and wardrobes plus chairs, tables, curtains and cushions.

Patients and staff moved back into the hospice’s Henderson Street home in April following more than a year of construction work, during which they had moved to temporary facilities at Wester Moffat Hospital.

The new fixtures and fittings include hoists which can be folded away into cupboards behind each bed.

Ward manager Rosemary Brolly said: “I’ve had amazing feedback from our patients and visitors since we reopened and they think that the quality and style of our furnishings are like a five-star hotel.”

Innova say their brief was to ensure the hospice is“as homely as possible to allow patients to feel comfortable”, and“to make it cosy and relaxing for people during vulnerable stages of their lives”.

Sales director Joe Hulbert said: “Working on the new St Andrew’s Hospice was truly an honour. It was such a great project and the results are a testament to just how fantastic it is as a hospice.

“We made sure that every item we provided was in keeping with their colour palettes and preferences to make it as homely as can be.”

Last month, we reported on how the hospice received a glowing report from regulator Healthcare Improvement Scotland, including a rating of “exceptional” for patient and service user experience.
