Shotts............................0 Gartcairn.......................3

Andrew Bargh Gartcairn sit top of the league after a tremendous 3-0 win away to Shotts.

Dylan McGuigan gave Cairn an early lead with a sumptious dink over the onrushing keeper.

Scott McEwan made it 2-0 with only a few minutes remaining before an own-goal made it three in the dying seconds.

Unbeaten Cairn are three points clear at the top of the West Region League One, having won five and drawn one match so far.

Delighted gaffer Jamie McKenzie said: “We deserved the three points.

“In the end, 3-0 is probably a bit harsh on them but the players carried out exactly what we were looking for before the game.

“We got the goal early doors and knew we could get in behind them.

“I said at half-time we’d been sloppy in possession so I wanted better in that regard.

“We got there in the end with the two late goals and although it flatters us a bit, we’ll take it.”

McKenzie was also quick to praise his substitutes and insists the whole squad have a part to play in the campaign.

He continued: “It was a great finish from Scott when he came on. “All 14 who featured today were great. “It’s a squad game and they produced again today so I can’t speak any more highly of them.

“Their work-rate and endeavour to win games is second to none.

“I’d have been gutted to leave here with anything other than the three points because of the effort they put in.”

McKenzie also revealed he believes his side have taken three points from a place that not many other teams will.

He furthered: “Shotts are a very good side.

“They’ve got four guys at the back who are very experienced and good defenders.

“They’re probably the most dangerous team we’ve played going forward.

“It’s a great result and to come here and win is pleasing. That’s the place we’re in at the moment and whoever is in our way is being swept aside.”
