BLOOMING MARVELLOUS

- Judith Tonner

Advertiser readers can nominate a special someone to receive recognition with a beautiful bouquet of flowers in our fabulous new weekly feature.

We have teamed up with fabulous florists Mr Michael’s, based in Coatbridge, and Elite Flowers of Airdrie to honour unsung heroes in the Monklands community.

You might know someone who has done something exceptional; appreciated kindness and selflessness from someone who always goes that extra mile; deserves a heartfelt thank you; or who continues to smile despite having more than their fair share of struggles.

Our new Say It With Flowers feature will allow readers to nominate and surprise an inspirational individual who makes a massive difference and is a ray of sunshine to those around them.

Each week, one of our two local florists will give an exquisite arrangement to a deserving nominee put forward by a reader; the flowers will be presented and captured on camera and our reporters will share the special someone’s story in the Advertiser.

Both Monklands businesses were delighted to get involved with the competition and didn’t hesitate to offer their services – and their fabulous floral creations.

Marie Simpson, who owns Elite Flowers with daughter- in- law Claire, said: “We are really happy to help; there will be lots of deserving recipients out there and we’re looking forward to getting involved.” The South Bridge Street florist added: “I really enjoy creating nice flower arrangements to make somebody’s day happy, and it’s great when customers come back and say how much they liked them.”

Coatbridge florist Michael Quinn, who owns Main Street- based Mr Michael’s with wife Stacey, agreed: “It’s great to get involved; one of the nicest things about our work is the joy you can bring to people.

“Our business has now been running for 25 years and this is a nice thing to do as part of our special anniversary.”

To nominate someone for a Say It With Flowers bouquet, send in your name, address, daytime phone number, the name of the person you wish to nominate and information about why you think they deserve to receive the bouquet of the week.

Details can be emailed to news@airdrieandcoatbridgeadvertiser.co.uk or posted to Say It With Flowers competition, Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser, One Central Quay, Glasgow G3 8DA; entries should arrive by 5pm on Monday.
