Woman attacked

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in an Airdrie nightclub.

The terrified victim was followed into the toilets at the Pulse venue by a man who then pushed her before carrying out the horrifying attack.

The woman suffered a head injury but although she didn’t require hospital treatment, she was left “extremely shaken”.

The assault took place at the town-centre night spot, on Graham Street, at around 12.50am on October 7.

The suspect is described as white, around 40 years of age, 5ft 9in tall, unshaven and “of stocky build with dark brown short hair”.

He was wearing a black top, black trousers and black shoes.

Detective Constable Thomas Ki e r nan, of Coatbridge police office, said: “It is imperative that we trace the man responsibl­e for this sexual assault as soon as possible.

“We have been carrying out enquiries since this incident was reported and are continuing to view CCTV footage from the local area.

“I would like to trace any witnesses to this assault or anyone with informatio­n that will assist this police investigat­ion.

“In particular, I would like to trace a woman who came to the victim’s assistance in the toilet area during the incident.

“She will have vital informatio­n that will assist our enquiry, and I would urge her to come forward as soon as possible.”
